The Evil Eye and the Hamsa
The evil eye is one of the oldest protective charms, known throughout the Mediterranean and the Middle East. Wearers have long used an eye-shaped talisman to ward off envy and misfortune, usually in blue.
The hamsa, also called the Hand of Fatima, is a hand-shaped charm with a similar meaning of protection and good luck. The Hamsa and Eye style combines both symbols on one chain.
About the Stones
The clear and colored stones in the pave designs are cubic zirconia (CZ), a lab-grown stone made in many colors. Pave means the stones sit side by side, so only thin lines of metal show between them.
The Hamsa and Eye and the Eye and Blue Disc use blue enamel for the eye centers. CZ has a Mohs hardness of about 8.5, so it suits regular wear, though hard knocks can scratch the surface.
Silver Base and Gold Finish
Sterling silver is an alloy of 92.5 percent silver and 7.5 percent other metals, which adds strength. The silver variants show this metal as it is.
The gold variants carry a thin coating of gold over the silver base. Friction, water and perfume wear a coating down over time, so careful handling keeps the tone even.
Test Certificates
Each design is supplied with its own CMA certificate. Every report lists the silver content as 925 parts per thousand, tested by X-ray fluorescence (XRF), plus the total mass.

To find your size, wrap a piece of string around your neck at the height you like, then measure the string. Use the necklace length guide to see where each length falls.
Wearing and Styling the Aziza
Small and quiet
The Marquise Eye and Turquoise Eye sit out of sight beneath a shirt collar.
A bolder pendant
The Open Eye and Large Disc catch the eye on a plain top.
Layered
Wear a Station Chain over a shorter pendant for two levels of sparkle.
V-necklines
The neckline leads the eye down to the pendant.
Summer tops
Bare skin shows the blue stones best, with a tank top or sundress.
Matching metals
Wear gold plated styles with gold hoops, and silver styles with silver studs.
Gold plated variants suit warm and neutral undertones, and silver suits cool undertones, though either looks good with blue.
For a different symbol on a similar kind of chain, the Bernadette Double Cross CZ Necklace hangs two crosses together, in gold plated or silver.
Giving an Evil Eye Necklace
Evil eye jewelry is often given to wish someone good fortune. With nine designs, there is a size and style for most tastes, from a quiet charm to a bold disc.
Good moments to give one: a birthday, a graduation, a first job, a housewarming or a trip abroad. More designs are in the necklaces collection.
How to Care for the Collection
Small stones set close together collect residue, so a light routine keeps them bright.
- Remove it before you shower, swim or exercise.
- Let perfume, lotion and hairspray dry before you put it on.
- After wearing, wipe the pendant and chain with a dry, soft cloth.
- To clean the settings, brush gently with lukewarm water and a drop of mild soap, then rinse and pat dry.
- Polish only the silver variants, because rubbing can remove gold plating.
- Keep each necklace in its own pouch so pendants cannot scratch other pieces.
